Hitachi TRK-8190HC Boombox, Dolby B, Cassette, AM/FM, Phono/AUX. 1980
This Hitachi TRK-8190 is a well designed, high-quality boombox, and packed with more features than most so-called holy-grails. It was manufactured in 1980, when Hitachi boomboxes were still top notch quality.
This Hitachi TRK-8190HC features:
- AM/FM
- Cassette Player
- Plays/Records Type I and II cassette tapes. Metal IV for playback only.
- Dolby B
- Made in JAPAN.
- Line In (AUX) or Phono.
- Video at the bottom of the page.
- Weighs Approximately 6.0 Kgs
Note 1: It's in top notch condition, but it has the inevitable markings of a 45 year old boombox. All functions are working properly. I could not get the AM/SW to work, but typically I don't get much of a signal in my basement. Because of this, at this point I deem the AM/SW as non-working until I test it outside. Repaired by Klaasson Vintage Audio of Orillia, Ontario.
Side Note: I do not own the rights to any music you might hear on these videos.
Buying a Boombox for the first time?
Most of the Boomboxes we carry are from 1980-1986, which is arguably Boomboxes' best period. Boomboxes of this short lived period were never again matched in quality, features and design. However, they were never meant to have a lifespan of more than 10 to 15 years, regardless of the brand, and the fact they were made in Japan. Yet, 40 to 45+ years later, we still expect them to fully work as originally intended. It's a daunting and expensive task to maintain, service and play them, while expecting them to perform as when they were new.
Warranty: Any kind of warranty on any vintage electronic equipment is rarely offered these days. A 30-Day warranty may be offered on some of the Boomboxes listed here. This limited warranty starts from the day the unit arrives in your home. Any and all mishaps, or accidental damage that may occur during shipping may void any warranty that CassetteComeback.com may offer.
This Hitachi TRK-8190HC: This Boombox has 30-Day warranty from the day you get it at home. Good until July 31st. of 2025. No warranty after this date. Shipping back to the Technician's workplace for warranty coverage is your responsibility, and return shipping after the warranty repair, will be covered up to $35 USD. Ready to be shipped now.
Insurance: Carriers these days no longer like to offer any kind of shipping insurance. This new stance leaves us totally open for significant losses. Here are some basic options available:
(1) Cassette Comeback's automatic shipping choice is with Canada Post specifically for Boomboxes, Cassette Decks and other Hi-Fi components. By default, "Expedited Parcel" service by Canada Post, offers you $70 USD of included insurance coverage at no additional charge. Higher coverage is possible through a custom shipping option with Canada Post, but you will need to contact us.
(2) Cassette Comeback can offer shipping services with other carriers that offer higher insurance coverage. It is best that you contact us through an email to quicker zero in on a solution that best suits you. Thank you.
Our Boomboxes can be shipped to most places in the world. If you do not like the shipping rate quoted to you by the site, please contact us by email, and we will try and offer you a few more choices with respect to the shipping costs, and insurance coverage.
