AIWA REEL C60 1982 - JP

A truly unique piece. Type I. Rare cassette with a price sticker by iconic "Bay Bloor Radio" of Toronto, a Hi-Fi shop that still exists today. Back in the day, these were the people that sold Nakamichi, Tandberg, B&O, Teac, and so many other very high end Hi-Fi components. This was "the" Hi-Fi store for the rich and famous in Toronto, and it kind of still is. It is a beautiful store! Cut & Paste link: https://baybloorradio.com/

This is about the time (1982) that these reel to reel compact cassettes were introduced. Initially introduced in Japan, but then later in 1984, Teac, Yamaha, Reel Cleer (USA), began to sell theirs around the world. The actual price sticker by Bay Bloor Radio is similar to others that have been spotted around this time (very late 70's to early 80's). The overall decent quality of the cassette is easily detected through its clear wrapper. The wrapper itself, is a type of plastic that barely shrinks under heat, also very common around 1980-82.

The cassette is not well dressed at all. No J-card, no fancy colourful wrapper, and it does not even mention its length, although it appears to be a 60 minutes tape. Lastly, this tape feels like it may have been part of a batch meant to be used as "samples", and distributor "not for sale" demo sort of tapes. at Bay Bloor Radio. At some point, it is obvious they decided to put a price on them, and sell them.

The bottom line? Well, this is a very unique cassette and it is sealed. It is not easy to part with this one (sorry!), but nonetheless, it is being made available. Please forgive the price on this tape.
