Buying a Boombox for the first time?

A brief insight into buying vintage Boomboxes and other Hi-Fi Gear.

Pinpointing the exact "Golden age of Electronics" is difficult and subjective at best. I'm going to suggest that the early 70's began to bring us good electronics and good quality finishes. The eighties brought us greatly improved electronics, amazing designs, more functions, controls, and great visual LED displays and lit-up indicators. The 90's had some of the best electronics ever produced for the best audio experience and still great quality finishes. It is during the 90's however that this industry begins to lose steam and its drive for quality and innovation.

Boomboxes were definitely produced during this era of the "Golden age of electronics", especially between 1980 and 1986. During this segment of time, at least in the category of Boomboxes (1-piece and 3-piece) the competition between all the main players was mainly to see who could produce the best possible boomboxes with the best electronics, the best designs and best finishes, period. This period was very short lived for well-known reasons... loud noise complaints, Walkman type personal players, heavy, expensive, the coming of the CD, to name a few.

Even though the Boomboxes of this short lived period were never again matched in quality and design, they were never meant to have a lifespan of more than 10 to 15 years, regardless of the brand. Here we are 35 to 40+ years later, and yet still expecting them to fully working (!).

Any kind of warranty on any vintage electronic equipment is rarely offered. Any and all mishaps or accidental damage that may occur during shipping will void any warranty I am offering. I will cover up to $300 USD of shipping insurance at no extra charge to you. It costs me up to an additional $1.49 to $6.49 USD for insurance to cover the value of any item(s) from $0.01 to $300.00. I do NOT charge for this insurance cost. If you prefer to cover it for a higher amount, please inquire within.

I will ship the Boombox, to most places in the world. If you do not like the shipping rate quoted to you by the site, please send me a note and I will look for other choices.
